Snack Smart this holiday season to prevent tooth decay
The holiday season is the easiest time for us Aussies to snack on delicious sugary foods…
It’s getting closer to Christmas and we all know what that means – chocolates, candy canes and Santa cookies! The one thing all these foods have in common other than being festive – they are laden with sugar!
At Oasis Dental Studio on the Gold Coast we urge all our patients to upkeep good dental hygiene by brushing twice daily and flossing once a day. Not only that, we advise to try and abstain from consuming sugary foods so you don’t start the New Year with a toothache!
Foods that help the health of your mouth…
While everything in moderation is okay, we at Oasis Dental Studio have compiled a list of foods that are okay in our books:
– Fresh fruits and vegetables: these can include oranges, grapefruit, pineapple, broccoli, celery, carrots, tomatoes and cucumbers
– Grains: these include unsweetened cereals, pretzels (low salt) and plain crackers
– Low fat milk or dairy products such as yoghurt and cheese
– Meats: these can include chicken, turkey and sliced meats
If you have been snacking on high-sugar foods and are starting to feel the repercussions in your teeth, we have an array of treatments to help combat tooth decay and periodontal (gum) disease.
Make sure you keep your mouth healthy so you can enjoy having your teeth for life!
