Get to know Bharat!
The exact moment/reason that I decided I wanted to become a dentist…
This has been a long time coming for me! When I was in Year 10 at high school, we did work experience and I was lucky enough to have a friend whose dad was a dentist, so I thought I’d go along and see what it was all about. It was amazing to be able to see what he was doing for his patients and how artistic his work was, the influence and the impact he was having on his patients’ lives. Combined with the ability to help patients get out of pain and give them a better quality of life, there was no better way for me to utilise my mind, my hands and put everything together. I love dentistry for that reason and that hasn’t ever changed which is really exciting!
What I love most about my job…
I love the ability to be able to create things with my hands, with my eyes, and be able to do it in a way that helps our patients not only feel better about themselves, but also have improved long-term health outcomes, also being able to eat better, chew better, and smile better.
My favourite type of treatment…
Anyone who knows me knows I love aesthetic dentistry, especially what is called “minimally invasive dentistry”. This involves helping patients get the end result that they’re really happy and confident about, whilst doing the least amount of dentistry possible. This means not destroying the existing tooth, providing solutions that not only look good but are going to function well long-term, which I’m really passionate about.
If I wasn’t a dentist, I would be…
A photographer probably or some sort of graphic designer, as I love creating things. If I wasn’t creating smiles and teeth, that’s probably what I’d be doing, as I love taking photos of teeth. Many of my patients may only recognise half my face, because I usually either have my mask on or I’m behind the camera!
My favourite thing to do on the Gold Coast in my spare time…
I love going for walks with my dog, Hugo. There’s no better backdrop for doing that than the Gold Coast.
