Introduced in 1998, HICAPS allows eligible patients to process health fund rebates for extras services such as dental, optical and physiotherapy at the time of payment.
How does HICAPS work?
So, what’s the HICAPS process? It’s simple.
- You receive the bill for your dental treatment
- You provide your BUPA, Medibank Private, or other participating health fund membership card
- We process your claim through the HICAPS system at the time of payment
- Your health fund contribution is applied
- You pay any remaining balance, if applicable
This allows eligible rebates to be processed on the spot, so you only pay the gap where relevant.
