Van enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and has a special interest in oral surgery. He has completed a comprehensive orthodontics course and is an Invisalign accredited dentist. He uses this knowledge to support patients in achieving their desired cosmetic outcomes with a minimally invasive approach where appropriate.
Our patients appreciate Van for his calm and gentle demeanour. Van understands the importance of creating a relaxing experience for his patients, whether it’s their first time, or they are returning for ongoing care.
Outside of dentistry Van enjoys training and competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, playing soccer and golf with friends and taking his dogs out on the stand-up paddle board.

The exact moment that I decided I wanted to become a dentist…
I think when I realised early on that being a professional soccer player was off the cards, I had to look at other career options… haha. In grade 10 I had the opportunity to do my work experience with the Oral Health department at Westmead Hospital. I was very intrigued by the problem solving required to tailor the ideal treatment for the patient and the ability to work with my hands to help others.
That exact moment came when I saw a young boy rush into the reception area with a large facial swelling, followed by his very anxious parents. This was the first time I had seen such large facial swelling. One of the dentists in the department took complete control of the situation. She calmed the boy and his parents, took the family into a room where she proceeded with the treatment. Due to the high stress situation, I was unable to watch this procedure, but I remember at the follow up appointment the boy showed no signs of any facial swelling. His parents, unable to speak English, were continuously expressing how thankful they were. This dentist was my cousin, she inspired me to become a dentist.
What I love most about my job…
Catching up with patients I haven’t seen for 6 months or getting to meet new patients.
My favourite type of dental treatment…
Wisdom teeth removal. Helping patients manage discomfort or swelling associated with wisdom teeth where clinically appropriate.
If I wasn’t a dentist…
I think I would enjoy being a barber. The chance to work with hands, be artistic and have a good chat with my clients.
