Dr. Yiu Cheng (Andrew)

BOralH (DentSci) (Griffith), GDipDentistry (Hons), PGCert (Dental Implantology) (CaDI), PGDipClinOrtho (London) (EODO Dux 19’) , Kois Center - Fellow (Seattle), FICCDE, FIADFE, (DEN0002067623)

Andrew’s philosophy is simple but unwavering: patients come first. With a calm, compassionate approach, Andrew is dedicated to creating a safe, judgement-free environment where every individual feels supported and heard.

To Andrew, every person he treats carries their own unique story – like a puzzle to be understood and carefully planned. His clinical foundation is rooted in both the art and science of aesthetic dentistry, focusing on restoring healthy, natural-looking smiles. Advanced training at the world-renowned Kois Center in Seattle (USA), followed by a three-year post-graduate residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics (EODO) under Dr. Derek Mahony, helped shape his appreciation for precision, balance and personalised treatment planning.

His interest in surgical dentistry led him to pursue post-graduate studies in dental and oral implantology through the Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology (UK). He has undertaken further training internationally across locations including Colombia, the USA, Portugal and Brazil, focusing on advanced surgical techniques.

For more than a decade, Andrew has focused on dental implant surgery and delivering comprehensive care. From replacing a single missing tooth to full-mouth rehabilitation, he utilises techniques such as All-on-X, remote anchorage implants (pterygoid, zygomatic, trans-nasal implants), and bone and soft tissue grafting, where clinically appropriate. Treatment outcomes vary depending on individual circumstances.

Beyond clinical practice, Andrew is involved in education and mentoring. He lectures and mentors dentists in implant surgery across Australia and teaches as part of the Australasian College of Dental Practitioners (ACDP), The Implant Institute, and Bespoke Dental Education, where he serves as Head Instructor for surgical courses.

Outside of dentistry, Andrew enjoys time with his partner Maddy, who is also a dentist, as well as family and friends. He also enjoys boxing and values maintaining balance outside of clinical practice.

Andrew is currently a member and contributor to the following:

Head Instructor (inteGrate – Alveolar Ridge Preservation and Implantology Masterclass), Bespoke Dental Education

Lecturer and Surgical Mentor (Oral Implant Diploma), The Australasian College of Dental Practitioners (ACDP)

Clinical Supervisor and Surgical Mentor, The Implant Institute (Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology)

The exact moment that I decided I wanted to become a dentist…

Growing up, I always wanted to become someone that could help others – directly, and with my own hands. The moment it truly clicked was when I saw how meaningful it could be to help someone improve their smile. That first look in the mirror… it was like a weight had lifted. Their smile wasn’t just different, they felt different. Being part of that process gave me a strong sense of purpose.

What I love most about my job…

Helping patients improve their oral health and confidence. It’s about listening to their story, understanding their concerns, and supporting them through their treatment journey.

My favourite type of dental treatment…

Full arch dental implant surgery (All-on-X). I enjoy the technical and planning aspects of surgery and the level of precision involved. Each case is unique and requires careful consideration.

If I wasn’t a dentist…

Doing something that lets me work with my hands, solve problems and help people grow. Possibly a medical doctor, craftsman, teacher or coach.

My favourite thing to do in my spare time…

Boxing. It helps me stay focused and present. I also value spending time with family and friends.
