The exact moment that I decided I wanted to become a dentist…
As a kid who excelled in Math and Science, I always wanted to be an Engineer. That was until I got the opportunity to do some work experience behind the desk, and I quickly realised it wasn’t for me. My natural affinity has always been for working with people on an individual level, assisting with their problems, and as an added bonus, I’ve always loved crafting with my hands. After heading back to the drawing board and brainstorming vocations that suited my innate skills, Dentistry became my number one choice, and I haven’t looked back since!
What I love most about my job…
What I love about working at Oasis is meeting so many new people on a daily basis. I’m a yapper by nature and genuinely enjoy getting to know people from all backgrounds. Since joining the Oasis team, the big personalities and lovely nature of patients and staff members alike have made my working environment such a fun place to be. I love spinning a yarn and can’t wait to get to know the next person to walk through our doors.
My favourite type of dental treatment…
My favourite thing in the world is having a patient walk away from an appointment with a huge smile, knowing the job was well done. The times that provide this sense of achievement the most stem from either aesthetic treatment or emergency pain relief appointments. Being able to be part of the process of assisting someone, whether that involves correcting a cosmetic point of self-consciousness or alleviating a debilitating affliction, is an incredibly rewarding feeling.
If I wasn’t a dentist, I would be…
Backpacking full time is something I have considered many times throughout my life. During my short time backpacking during my gap year, I made lifelong memories, had the privilege of experiencing different cultures firsthand, and met people from all walks of life. Apple picking on the coast of Aus one season and teaching skiing in the Alps the next sounds like a life well-lived.
My favourite thing to do on the Gold Coast in my spare time…
I’m not originally from to Goldy, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know! I love time spent with friends, being out in nature, playing board games, and boxing.
