This can help to balance proportions, highlight features or smoothen areas of volume loss. As part of the aging process we all lose bone structure and fat pad support. This loss of volume is what gives the appearance of sagging skin and an overall tiredness. Facial volume treatments replaces the lost volume giving back support to the overlying skin.
What can be treated?
- Full Face Rejuvenation (customised to you)
- Chin and Jawline enhancement
- Lips (including dental block for patient comfort)
- Peri-oral (smokers’ lines, marionette lines, nasolabial folds)
- Cheeks (midface and cheek bones)
- Piriform Fossa (support for nasolabial folds)
- Temporal hollowing
How does it work?
Care is taken to plan your treatment ensuring that the result is focused on enhancing your own facial features. The treatment is carried out in a dental surgery with the highest infection control standards. Topical prescription only numbing cream can be applied for comfort, or in the case of lower face treatments such as lips, a dental block can be administered. Dr Hannah carries the dissolving agent on hand should complications arise which require reversal as patient safety is of highest priority.
The volume change is immediate. It is likely that you will have swelling which will be most obvious in the first 2-4days, the final results will be visible 2-4 weeks once the dermal filler has integrated.
If you have had previous facial volume treatment, this will be assessed. Lumps, bumps and migration may require dissolving prior to further treatment.
How to prepare for your injectables appointment?
When planning your appointment you should come makeup free and clean faced. There are some things that you can do to reduce your risk of bruising. Ideally avoid exercise that morning, as well as alcohol 48hrs prior. Blood thinning medications can increase your risk of bruising (if this is prescribed by a doctor, check with your doctor prior to pausing medications). Consider any supplements that you take as these can also increase risk of bruising, for example fish oil, garlic. It is important to share any medical conditions or allergies with your treating clinician. Pregnant or breastfeeding women will need to defer treatment. It is advised to be generally well when undertaking any injectables treatment.
After your injectables appointment
It is important to follow after care instructions carefully to minimise your chance of complications. Important to note is to avoid the following:
- touching the area for the rest of the day (normal skin care is fine in the evening)
- laying down for 5hrs to avoid pressure in injection sites
- exercise for 24hrs
- alcohol for 24hrs
- excessive heat, such as saunas or spas for 24hrs
- placing any pressure (such as massage or facials) 24hrs
At your injectables appointment
After a thorough discussion of treatment goals, Dr Hannah will provide an assessment of your current concerns and make recommendations of what can be achieved. Photo records will be made for diagnosis. After the risks and benefits are discussed you may then choose to proceed with treatment.
