ZOOM Teeth Whitening at Oasis Dental Studio West End Brisbane

ZOOM! Teeth Whitening

Trusted by many dental professionals, ZOOM! Teeth Whitening offers a fast, noticeable solution to whitening yellow, discoloured or stained teeth.

The in-chair treatment should only be performed by trained staff, on suitable candidates. Candidates may also be suitable for the at-home treatment, or even a combination of the two.

Take Home Teeth Whitening Kit

Take-home teeth whitening has many benefits, above just making your pearly whites brighter. Some patients prefer the convenience of take home trays as you can choose when and where you whiten your teeth. It’s safe, it’s effective and it’s cost effective too.

Teeth Whitening Bundle (ZOOM! And Take Home Kit)

For those who are suitable for the at-home treatment option, the home whitening bundle can be a convenient solution.

The bundle comes with take-home whitening trays, allowing you to choose when and where you will whiten your teeth. It’s an efficient and cost-effective option that can achieve lasting results.

Sometimes, the at-home and in-chair treatments can be combined within the one treatment plan. This may help your teeth whitening results to last longer.

Teeth Whitening Dentists in Brisbane, West End - Oasis Dental Studio

Experienced, Trained Teeth Whitening Dentists

Choosing an experienced dentist to whiten your teeth, or taking home our professional whitening bundle, can have many benefits over purchasing over-the-counter products.

With high-quality whitening materials and attention to detail during an in-chair whitening session, your teeth can be carefully whitened to your desired shade.

Our teeth whitening dentists can take measures to reduce tooth sensitivity after treatment, and to minimise any possible complications.

Why You May Choose to Whiten Your Teeth

Our teeth can slowly become discoloured over time, particularly if we frequently consume foods or beverages that can be quite staining. We don’t have to go without our morning coffee or dinnertime red wine, but we may want to seek teeth whitening treatment at some point to remove the stains they can leave!

While certain food and drink can discolour our teeth, stains and a yellow shade can also be caused by:

  • The natural ageing process
  • Certain medications
  • Poor dental hygiene
  • Smoking

Quitting smoking or limiting how often you consume teeth-staining drinks or food can help to prevent more stains in the future, but once current damage has been done, you’ll need a good whitening treatment to help treat it.

ZOOM! Teeth Whitening can remove even the darkest of stains, and once you’ve had your treatment, following a good dental hygiene routine and implementing some other steps can help you to keep your teeth white in the longer term.

Is Teeth Whitening a Suitable Treatment Option For Me?

If you want to remove tooth stains, whiten a yellow shade or reduce discolouration, our teeth whitening treatment options can suit your needs!

Our experienced dentists will assess your dental health, take a look at the appearance of your teeth, and discuss the level of whitening you want to achieve before performing your treatment. If you have cavities, cracks, or any tooth decay, we’ll need to take this into consideration before recommending teeth whitening.

We’ll also need to consider if you have any dental implants, crowns or veneers, as these generally do not respond to whitening agents. Whitening treatments are only designed to whiten the colour of natural teeth.

If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you may be advised to avoid undergoing teeth whitening treatments.

Suitable candidates for teeth whitening treatments, whether they will be in-chair, at-home or combined treatments, should have realistic expectations for their results.

You should also be able to commit to your treatment plan, and follow any important advice to help minimise teeth sensitivity and see the best results after your treatment.

If you have any questions about your suitability for teeth whitening, please get in touch with our team so that we can provide you with personalised advice.

How does ZOOM! Teeth Whitening work?

ZOOM! Teeth Whitening uses a specialised gel and an advanced UV light to whiten teeth.

The gel and UV light can whiten dark stains, even those that may have been around for a long time. With a personalised treatment, your dentist can monitor the level of teeth whitening, achieving subtle results or a significantly brighter smile.

What Can I Expect During My Whitening Session?

At the beginning of your teeth whitening session, your dentist will take a look at the current colour of your teeth, and note any particular stains.

First, your teeth will be professionally cleaned, removing any plaque or surface stains. Cleaning your teeth before whitening can help the whitening agent to work more efficiently.

To protect your gums, your dentist may apply a special gel to prevent your gums from being affected by the whitening gel and UV light. You can then sit back relax and enjoy your favourite show on Netflix while your whitening sessions takes place.

The ZOOM! Whitening gel will then be applied to your teeth. The advanced UV light, specifically designed for the teeth whitening procedure, is then placed over your teeth to further activate the whitening process.

Your full whitening session will normally take about one hour, but sessions are sometimes divided into 15 minute treatment intervals, if your dentist thinks it may be the best option for the health of your teeth.

Once your teeth have been whitened to the level you want, your mouth will be rinsed to remove any leftover gel. You’ll then be able to see an instantly whiter, brighter smile!

How Does The At-Home Whitening Kit Work?

The at-home whitening kit will work in a similar way to our in-chair treatment, but it is generally a milder and slower process, since it won’t be a treatment performed by a dental professional.

The kit includes whitening trays that you’ll need to apply to your teeth according to the directions. You should follow the directions closely to minimise sensitivity and achieve the level of whitening you want!

If you want to combine our at-home treatment with an in-clinic treatment, we will create a treatment plan and let you know what to expect.

How Long Will My Results Last After the Treatment?

There are some steps you can take to keep your teeth nice and bright for long after your whitening treatment.

You can speak to one of our dentists for some personalised dental hygiene advice, taking any health factors that may affect your dental health into consideration.

Generally, to maintain good dental hygiene, you should:

You can also limit the consumption of staining foods and beverages, or try to limit their effect on your teeth, such as by drinking coffee through a straw. After consuming staining foods or drinks, we recommend rinsing your mouth to remove any staining particles.

We recommend avoiding smoking, as it is a common cause of discoloured or stained teeth.

We recommend one ZOOM! treatment per year. However, your dentist may advise an additional session if discoulouration continues. Consider using the take home whitening kit to maintain a white, bright smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will teeth whitening make my teeth sensitive after treatment?

Teeth whitening treatments can sometimes make your teeth slightly more sensitive, but this can be minimised as much as possible by experienced dentists.

Do teeth whitening treatments hurt?

Teeth whitening treatments are generally comfortable, but some people do notice slight sensitivity. You may also feel a minor tingling sensation from the whitening gel, or warmth from the UV light. Our dentists will consider your current dental health before performing your treatment and aim to minimise tooth sensitivity.

How often can I have ZOOM! Teeth Whitening treatments?

You should only have one teeth whitening treatment every 12 months, but a touch-up after six months may be possible, depending on the sensitivity of your teeth and other factors that our dentists will need to assess.

Will I be able to whiten my dental implants or veneers?

Teeth whitening treatments will only whiten natural teeth, so porcelain veneers or other materials will not respond to the whitening ingredients.

Will teeth whitening damage my gums?

Teeth whitening should not damage your gums, especially when the treatment is performed by experienced dentists. Choosing a dental clinic with a professional team and sticking to the recommended number of treatments should prevent any lasting damage to your teeth or gums.

When should I avoid teeth whitening treatments?

Teeth whitening treatments aren’t always a suitable choice. Those who have cavities, tooth decay, cracks or other tooth damage may not be suitable candidates for the treatment. Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding may also be advised to avoid teeth whitening. Before you have our in-chair teeth whitening treatment or purchase an at-home kit, we’ll assess the health of your teeth and advise you on whether or not you should proceed with teeth whitening.

Should I choose a ZOOM! Teeth Whitening in-chair treatment, a take home treatment or a combined treatment plan?

If you’re not sure which option to choose, our dentists can help you decide which treatment method may best suit your needs. Your most suitable option can depend on the health of your teeth, your teeth’s sensitivity, your availability to attend in-clinic appointments and the level of whitening that you want to achieve.

How can I avoid yellow, stained or discoloured teeth?

Limiting staining beverages and foods such as coffee or red wine, rinsing your mouth after consuming these drinks or foods, and quitting smoking can help to prevent discoloured and stained teeth. You should also maintain a good dental hygiene routine by brushing twice a day, flossing once a day and visiting your dentist every six months.
