Everyone deserves to have healthy skin, but you have to put in the work – Pathway to Facial Rejuvenation
Routine: Daily home care routine is vital for skin health. Using a cleanser and moisturiser morning and night with Broadspectrum SPF protection daily is essential. Without caring for your skin daily and protecting it from the sun, any other treatments will not be nearly as effective. Good nutrition, regular exercise, hydration and sleep are also important if you are wanting to care for the health of your skin. Active ingredients such as retinol and vitamin C are a great place to start when you are ready to elevate your skin care regime.
Relax: Lines and wrinkles are often a result of hyperdynamic muscle movements which over time result in lines at rest. The use of muscle relaxant injections are particularly helpful in the upper face to lessen the movement of the underlying muscles and allow for even skin healing and rejuvenation. This treatment is also important for treating over active clenching muscles and also gummy smiles.
Resurface: Now it’s time to actively encourage the healing process in the skin. This is done by several methods. Most of which is aimed at causing controlled trauma to the skin surface to encourage increased cell turnover and collagen induction. Microneedling or collagen induction therapy (CIT) can be beneficial and is usually performed as a course of three to four monthly treatments until results are achieved from there a maintenance program can be devised. Another technique for resurfacing is through the use of exfoliation peels, these can be used in a combined program with the CIT.
Monothreads are also a way to stimulate collegen. This involves placing small sutures underneath the skin, the sutures dissolve over the coming months leaving behind new collagen to improve the quality of the skin. The aim of all of these procedures is to improve skin texture and address skin laxity.
Recontour: A natural part of ageing is the loss of volume of facial structures, muscle, fat and bone. The use of dermal filler can help to improve this loss of volume. It is important to note that the better your skin health the less we have to rely on this option, so please check again that your daily routine is a number one priority. Dermal filler to the lips can refresh the appearance of the lip surface leaving it more hydrated and with improved proportions, often considered the finishing touch to dental aesthetic treatment.
Redrape: Sometimes the loss of volume has resulted in changes to the skin position giving the appearance of jowls or drooping cheeks and eyebrows. At this point it becomes necessary to improve the position of the skin, this can be achieved through the use of thread lifting (non-surgical facelift). Threadlifting involves the placement of implantable surgical threads underneath the skin surface which are then used to reposition the tissue. These threads have fine filaments such that they attach to the tissue and can be easily smoothened to create a natural look. When the body produces new skin cells, they will surround the filament in the threads to form new collagen and create and subtle yet effective lift.
