A premier destination for gentle dental care on the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Pottsville. We understand that visiting the dentist can be an anxiety-inducing experience for some people, leading them to avoid necessary dental care. However, delaying treatment can worsen dental infections and require more extensive procedures in the future.
To address this concern, we are proud to offer in-house sleep dentistry services for our patients. At Oasis Dental Studio, we believe that everyone deserves a comfortable and stress-free dental experience. Whether you have mild anxiety or have had traumatic dental experiences in the past, our sleep dentistry options can help alleviate your fears and provide a relaxed environment for your treatment.
Why Consider Sleep Dentistry?
There are several reasons why sleep dentistry may be the right choice for you during your next dental visit:
- Mild to severe anxiety about seeing a dentist: If dental visits make you anxious or cause stress, sleep dentistry can help you feel at ease throughout the treatment.
- Past traumatic dental experience: If you have had a negative dental experience in the past, sleep dentistry can create a calming environment and ensure your comfort during the procedure.
- Fear of pain or discomfort: Sleep dentistry can help manage pain and ensure you feel little to no discomfort during your dental treatment.
- Need for lengthier or more complex procedures: If you require extensive dental work or lengthy procedures, sleep dentistry can make the experience more manageable and comfortable.
- A desire to “tune out” what’s going on around you: Sleep dentistry allows you to relax and disconnect from your surroundings, providing a peaceful dental experience.
Our Sleep Dentistry Options
We offer two types of sleep dentistry at our studios to cater to your specific needs:
Nitrous Oxide (“Happy Gas”)
Our sedation options cater to your individual needs. Relative analgesia, also known as nitrous oxide or “happy gas,” is administered through inhalation, helping to alleviate anxiety and create a calming atmosphere. The effects wear off around 10 minutes after your treatment.
General Anesthesia
For those who prefer to be completely unconscious during treatment, we offer the option of general anesthesia. The administration of general anesthesia takes place in our state-of-the-art surgical centre in Broadbeach, by a Specialist Anesthetist; meaning there’s no need for you to visit the hospital. General anaesthesia offers a remarkable advantage by inducing a temporary and carefully monitored state of unconsciousness, allowing your body to fully relax and feel at ease during dental procedures. The effects can last hours, and you will need to arrange transport home from your treatment.
Is Sleep Dentistry Right for You?
Before proceeding with sleep dentistry, we will carefully review your past health and dental history. We will also discuss any recent medical treatments or medications you are taking. This thorough evaluation allows us to understand your specific needs and ensure the safest and most effective sedation option for you.
At Oasis Dental Studio, your comfort and well-being are our top priorities. Our experienced team will take the time to explain the advantages of each sleep dentistry option and help you choose the one that best suits your needs.
